Mark Spinks Suspends Campaign – Backs Salvino
PHOENIX, AZ – Today, Congressional District Five Republican candidate Mark Spinks announced the suspension of his campaign.
For me this election has always been about delivering the right message to Washington, and to have that message delivered by someone who would stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Arizona for the fight ahead, and not with the establishment. It was never about personal self promotion or egos.
That is why I am announcing my decision to suspend my campaign and put my complete effort, strength, and resources behind Dr. Chris Salvino.
I have gotten to know Chris over the last few months and consider him a friend. I have been impressed with his dedication, knowledge, and resolve. These traits are why he is poised for victory in the August 24th primary.
Remember, there is no reward for finishing second. Finish first and we have say in the direction of our future. Finish second and we get more taxes, less input, treated with disrespect, and ruled over, not governed with consent. That is why I am working to ensure Chris finishes 1st, and asking you to do the same.
Now is the time we must all take a stand for America. Together, with your support, Dr. Chris Salvino will continue the path and deliver our message to Washington and deliver upon that message once there.
As I said before, this is not about any one man, but about ending an Age of Entitlement and replacing it with an Age of Empowerment, a time to move from a government that wishes to rule over us to one that chooses to govern with us, and to leaders who choose to inspire, motivate, and encourage us to build a stronger more vibrant America for all of us instead of mandate, oppress, and discourage us down a path chosen for us. Chris is that leader.
We look around and see politicians and opportunists who are only running out of a desire for self-promotion, they have little concern for serving their constituents. I see corruption and appeasement at every level. When I look at my fellow Americans, I see the disgust in their eyes, but yet too many just sit there, few citizens are actually involved enough in the political process to run for office or help someone else make a difference. No, instead, the vast majority leave running up to others. Sadly, this has lead to a political nobility in our representative republic that doesn’t know or care to know the people for whom they are elected to represent. This is why we must all stand up and join this fight.
You understand why we cannot let this opportunity pass. This may be the best chance to get mainstream America a seat at the table in Washington. The climate now is anti-incumbent, anti-opportunist, and anti-establishment. Replacing a representative from the left with one from the right that has the same big money, career politician mentality is not enough. If there has ever been a day for an everyday mainstream American to go up against the established Washington machine and win, it is today. We need everyday people to have a voice and that is why I am asking you to join me in supporting Dr. Chris Salvino.
While my campaign has ended, my willingness to serve has not, and in the weeks and months ahead I look forward to supporting Chris and other Republicans all across Arizona as we retake control from this President and this out of control Congress and restore the principles which made this country great.
Dr Chris Salvino and Mark Spinks started out as Republican competitors for the U.S. Congress in Arizona (CD-5), became friends and then joined forces to become the strongest in the race. Mark and Chris realized that their political views and values were very similar; both want much less government and as well as Representatives in Washington looking out for people not special insterests. Both also are not career politicians, have no interest in "being a politician" but want to go to Washington to "help return the American Dream to our Children." Mark recently realized he would have a better chance of getting his goal heard by joining with Chris and bringing his staff and resources into the Salvino Campaign; which would then boost Chris even higher as his momemtum continues to climb. This is the way politics should be played - Selflessness over selfishness!!
